About

Our Story

Who we are.

In the same year that the Sydney Opera House opened, Ivor Worrell and Noel Adsett began a general accounting practice in outer suburban Brisbane, with only a handful of clients. Ivor was just 23 years' old. That practice prospered and after a few short years it moved to the Brisbane CBD. An interest in the world of insolvency developed and progressively the firm took on more and more insolvency work until by 1990, the insolvency business dominated the firm.

In field where burnout among practitioners is common, during a period where many practices have come and gone, in a profession where competition is fierce and assignments limited, to achieved longevity of fifty years is no small feat.

Part of our success comes from a decision to back our deep knowledge through in-house tech. Most importantly our success is due to those who continue to support us. Our plan is to continue earning that trust and support.

Brand pillars

Our tech

Our brand's revolution came with a stand-off with off-the-shelf tech options. Rather than accepting third or fourth best tech to use in our appointments we decided to go at it alone. We backed our deep knowledge by investing in our own tech.

Our proprietary tech controls, manages, and enhances everything we do. It’s customised to current and future market needs. Each task is perfected and systemised and ensures quality and cost control.

Our people

We are registered liquidators and registered bankruptcy trustees. And have more registered bankruptcy trustees than any other private practice/brand in Australia. Complementing our insolvency brand is principals with certified fraud examiner and forensic accountant qualifications.

Our people understand insolvency at the deepest level and are always keen to find the right answers. But importantly, our people have the care factor for those affected by the insolvency situation.

Reflections

50 lessons of 50 years

Our founding principal, Ivor Worrell presented his 40 lessons of 40 years at our state conferences in 2013. The following lessons are some of his 40 lessons coupled with our new lessons from the last ten years.

We hope the Worrells Way resonates with you or generates new concepts for you and your business. We know we could always be doing it better, but some things just get better with the benefit of time, and a generous amount of hindsight!
