Preserving the Corporate Veil

In many ways the corporate veil is like a wedding veil – it doesn’t hide much, it is flimsy and it is easily damaged. This presentation will:
> Discuss the various ways that directors and shareholders can be personally liable for company debts.
> Provide useful ways to help clients preserve the corporate veil.


Scott Andersen

Scott joined Worrells in November 2014 and is an Associate Partner based in our Geelong office that services the Greater City of Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Victorian Surf Coast and Colac. Having specialised in all forms of Personal and Corporate insolvency administrations since 2006, of which four years was spent dealing with complex insolvencies and forensic accounting investigations in offshore financial centres. He is a Registered Liquidator and has a broad range of experience across various industries including transport, manufacturing, retail and finance. Scott has completed the Advanced Insolvency Course, is member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association and is also a Certified Financial Crime Specialist.

Matthew Jess

Matthew Jess joined Worrells in 2004 and was appointed Partner in 2006. He is a Registered Liquidator, Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy and a member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand. Matthew has specialised in providing turnaround and restructuring services for over 20 years, and also has considerable experience in commercial accounting and corporate finance fields. Matthew’s experience includes formal insolvency appointments across all forms of personal and corporate engagements, advisory roles and turnaround assignments across a broad range of industries.
