This session will explore the fundamental ethical principles that underpin both the accounting and legal professions, providing a comprehensive overview of integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, professional competence, due care, and professional behaviours. This session will explore shared ethical challenges such as conflicts of interest, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and the importance of ethical leadership.
Recognising the distinct regulatory frameworks, the session will address how these core principles are applied within the unique ethical codes and governing bodies of each profession. Furthermore, we will highlight specific ethical challenges pertinent to accountants, including the impact of AI and technology, sustainability, and maintaining professional scepticism.
